The viewpoint of Vista do Rei is one of the best-known picture postcards of São Miguel and perhaps the Azores.
It owes its name to the visit of King Dom Carlos and Queen Dona Amelia, who from here contemplated Sete Cidades, its lagoons, and all the surrounding area.
Getting to enjoy the scenery can be a difficult task. This place is situated on a high point, often covered by fog.
