Nordeste is a Portuguese village in the Nordeste municipality, with 21.03 km² of area, 1 341 inhabitants (2011), and a population density of 63.8 hab/km². At the administration level (Parish ), the Nordeste Village also encompasses the small parish of Lomba da Pedreira.
History
The settlement of the Nordeste Village, anciently called Afonso Salvador, took over the season of discoveries, in the fifteenth year of 1514, according to a letter from D. Manuel I was sent more sown to the region. It was elevated to village on July 18, 1514, when it was only a simple place of the Municipality of Vila Franca do Campo.
Buildings
The Hermit of Our Lady of the Rosary was founded in 1529 and rebuilt in 1848. The Hermit of St. Sebastian where the church and the convent Franciscans were in ruins, as is the Hermit of Our Lady of God. There is still the Hermide of Our Lady of Nazareth.
The Mother Church of São Jorge, the Bridge of the Seven Arcs, and the building of the Nordesre City Council.
Economic Activities
The most abundant economic activities are agro-including, trade, services, and industry. Creating bovine cattle brings with it the production of butter. Crafts are of much importance in this village and is represented by Casa do Trabalho de Nordeste, where quilts and blankets are weave and linen, in hand looms.
